FD: Car ended up in the woods in Trumbull crash

TRUMBULL — Two people inside a car that left the roadway and ended up in the nearby woods managed to get out of the car before first responders got to the site of the crash.

The Trumbull Volunteer Fire Department sent units near White Plains Road and Old Town Road on a report of a a car into the woods on Sunday.

“Upon arrival, units found a single vehicle 15 to 20 feet into the woods with both occupants safely out of the vehicle,” police said.

Photos from the scene showed a Volkswagen Beetle seemingly balanced on its front end, with the car being held in the air by trees and branches surrounding it.

Fire units put down Speedy Dry — an oil absorbent — on a small fluid spill.

A truck from Bud’s Truck and Diesel Service in Bridgeport was able to pull the car out of the woods and tow it. Police also responded to investigate the crash.

No further information on the crash or the investigation was provided.
