State cannot determine cause of Arnie’s fire
DEER GROVE – The cause of the July 23 fire that destroyed Arnie’s Happy Spot, 1667 Hoover Road, cannot be determined, the state fire marshal’s office said in an email Tuesday.
That’s not unusual: Sometimes, the evidence of a fire’s origin is destroyed in the fire itself, or by the efforts of firefighters to put it out.
No one was injured in the blaze, which broke out around 12:30 a.m. in the middle of the building, near the bathrooms, owner Richard T. “Rick” Lance said.
At the time, fire marshal investigator Mike Poel said the cause appeared to be electrical, Lance said, adding that he plans to rebuild.
The restaurant, an area landmark for more than 80 years, employed about 18 people.
