Police officer involved in fatal Shelby standoff identified
GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — The Montana police officer who shot a man to death in Shelby two weeks ago has been identified as Senior Police Officer Kevin Supalla of the Great Falls Police Department.
The Great Falls Tribune reports that the Great Falls Police Department’s High Risk Unit was asked by the Toole County Sheriff’s Office to assist in the April 22 incident in which a 50-year-old homicide suspect had barricaded himself in his Shelby home with a female hostage.
The Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is still investigating.
Authorities say Richard Allen Moench of Shelby was suspected of killing 43-year-old Jeromy W. Bryant of Kevin before taking a woman hostage. Police say Moench fired at the officers, injuring one.
