HAVASU BALLOON FESTIVAL: Getting airborne
Photos by Tyanna and Julie Wilson
It was a successful first full day at the Havasu Balloon Festival. Dozens of balloons went up for the morning mass ascension, which takes a lot of work by pilots and their crews on the ground. Thom Wright and grandson Jaxon Wright, above left, hold tight to the guide ropes for the zebra ballon they brought from Albuquerque. The Balloon Festival continues today and Sunday at Lake Havasu State Park.
