COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Tennessee is headed to the Sweet 16 after avoiding one of the biggest meltdowns in NCAA Tournament history. The Volunteers let a 25-point lead slip away before two-time SEC player of the year Grant Williams scored six points in overtime for an 83-77 victory over Iowa. The 10th-seeded Hawkeyes came close to pulling off the biggest comeback in NCAA Tournament’s history, surpassing BYU’s 25-point rally to victory over Iona in 2012.

UNDATED (AP) — The Southeastern Conference has four teams in the Sweet 16, tying a league record. No. 2 seeds Kentucky and Tennessee, No. 3 seed LSU and No. 5 seed Auburn have all earned their trip to the second weekend of the tournament. That’s happened twice before. In 1996, the SEC had eventual national champion Kentucky, another Final Four team in Mississippi State, Arkansas and Georgia. The other time was in 1986 with LSU, Kentucky, Auburn and Alabama.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Braden Holtby made 35 saves to compensate for an inconsistent effort by his teammates, and the Washington Capitals beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1 on Sunday afternoon to snap a two-game skid. GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — The Indians have signed infielder Brad Miller to a major league contract. Miller was signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers on Feb. 27. He opted out of it on March 21 and signed with the Indians, who will start the season with second baseman Jason Kipnis and shortstop Francisco Lindor on the injured list. The Indians cleared a roster spot for Miller by placing pitcher Danny Salazar on the 60-day injured list while he rehabs his right shoulder from surgery.
