Sheriff’s Office investigating shooting in Salley

A shooting incident in Salley is under investigation.

Around 7:21 p.m. Tuesday, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of shots fired and a person being injured on the 400 block of Rainbow Drive in Salley, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, deputies found a white male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head, according to a release. The victim was transported to an area hospital by Aiken County EMS for emergency treatment. The victim’s condition is not known at this time.

According to a news release, witnesses told deputies the incident was the result of a verbal altercation between several individuals that occurred at a different location prior to the shooting incident.
