Holdup Man Tried To Deposit Loot In Another Branch, Police Say
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ A bank robber trying to deposit the loot in a branch of the same bank was arrested when a dye pack put in with the money exploded, police said.
Auto mechanic Lorenzo Delaney robbed the South Carolina National Bank on Monday of $8,000 and was at a crosstown branch when a guard saw the pack go off, police said.
″It’s really not funny - a stroke of good luck, maybe, on our part,″ said police Capt. J.R. Swisher said. Delaney was charged in the heist and in two other bank robberies, one at the same bank held up on Monday.
