Homes of “Duke’s” John Schneider and Michael Wayne Burglarized
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Burglars raided the home of ″Dukes of Hazzard″ star John Schneider and his wife, local television newscaster Tawny Little Schneider, and a nearby home owned by Michael Wayne, son of the late John Wayne, police said Tuesday.
The Schneiders returned home Monday night and discovered the burglary at their Studio City home, 11 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, police Detective James Gerardi said.
Items stolen included a television, rugs and silverware, Gerardi said. The loss was estimated at more than $36,000.
Renters living at Wayne’s Toluca Lake home, about 10 miles northwest of downtown, reported that burglary Sunday, Gerardi said. They also had been away during the weekend, he said.
The $13,000 loss included stereo equipment and silverware, he said.
Three years ago, Michael Wayne was the victim of another burglary in which mementos of his father were taken, police Lt. Ron LaRue said.
″We’ve been having a rash of burglaries in the Studio City area,″ Gerardi said. ″Within the last two weeks, we’ve had 25 to 30 burglaries.″
Police do not think the burglaries are being committed by a ring.
