Rose Ann Marie Blau, 85, Merrimac

Rose Ann Marie Blau, 85, of Merrimac, (formerly of Hartford), passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at SSM Health-St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

Rose was born March 11, 1933, in Plain, to Rose M. (nee Ruhland) and Frank J. Blau. She worked for numerous hospitals from 1954 to 2006, as a radiation technician, including Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend, Trinity Memorial Hospital in Cudahy and VA Hines Hospital in Chicago. She was a historian since 1986, and enjoyed researching her family history extensively. Rose wrote more than 30 books, booklets and CDs. She was a member of The Sisters of the Divine Savior in Milwaukee, from 1952 to 1970. Rose also loved collecting dolls.

Rose is survived by her loving siblings, Florence Krejchik of Portage, Alvin (Karen) Blau of Menomonee Falls, John (Lorrell) Blau of Baraboo, Leonard (Janice) Blau of Merrimac, and Luke (Chris) Blau of Merrimac. She is further survived by 50+ nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives, friends, and dear friend, Sister Mary Evelyn Zimbauer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose Blau; siblings, Edwin (Clara) Blau, Mary (Gerald) Lange, Joseph Blau, Charles Sr. (Helen, Geri) Blau, Leo Blau; sister-in-law, Charlotte Blau and brother-in-law, Charles Krejchik; step-brother, Laddie (Irene) Kout.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rose will be celebrated at Durward’s Glen, W11876 McLeish Road, Baraboo, WI 53913, on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Rosary at 10:30 a.m., Mass at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Inurnment at St. Mary’s Pines Cemetery following the service, with further fellowship at Durward’s Glen Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rose’s name to Durward’s Glen are greatly appreciated.
