Wis.-Parkside 88, Tenn. St. 86

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Marc Hautakker scored on a follow shot with one second left to play Thursday night to hand Wisconsin-Parkside an 88-86 victory over Tennessee State University.

Tennessee State (2-7) had trailed 79-71 with 4:00 minutes to play, but rallied to tie the game at 83-83 with 1:18 remaining on a layup by Curtis Davis.

Hautakker put the Rangers (2-8) up 84-83 when he hit one of two free throws and Parkside expanded its edge to 86-83 on a pair of free throws by Ryan McCarty with 48 seconds left.

Tennessee State’s Monty Wilson, who scored a career-high 33 points, tied the game at 86-86 when he hit a 3-point jumper with 28 seconds on the clock.

Parkside then ran down the clock to set the stage for Hautakker’s game-winner.

McCarty scored 34 points to top the Rangers, while Levi Bradley added 22 points and Hautakker 16.

Following Wilson for Tennessee State were Jason Johnson with 16 points and Anthony Cephus with 13.

For the game, Parkside shot 59 percent from the field, while Tennessee State hit 52 percent of its shots.

The Rangers used the free throw line to their advantage in the second half, hitting 18 of 24 attempts, while Tennessee State converted 8 of 10.
