Machine damaged during Waupun factory fire

WAUPUN – The Waupun Fire Department responded to an early morning fire at Federal Mogul, 401 Industrial Drive, after one of the machines in the factory started on fire.

According to a press release from Waupun Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa, crews were dispatched to the building at 1:48 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters were directed to a machine that was burning. Crews quickly put the fire out however there was significant damage done to the machine. The crews were on scene for two hours working on ventilation, overhaul operations, and checking for fire extension. There were 8 employees in the building at the time of the fire and no one was injured. No firefighters were hurt during operations. Employees were able to return to work after smoke was vented from the building.

Agencies assisting at the scene included the Waupun Police Department and Lifestar Ambulance.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and damage estimates have yet to be determined.
