Schools band together to raise money for family

January 29, 2019

BULLHEAD CITY — Five area schools have joined forces in hopes of providing financial help for a family dealing with tragedy.

Mohave High School, River Valley High School, Fox Creek Junior High School, Young Scholar’s Academy and Diamondback Elementary School are participating in Dunk Tank Battle this week as a fundraiser for the family of Richard Pagett. Pagett, of Mohave Valley, was killed in an automobile accident west of Laughlin earlier this month.

“The Pagett family has suffered a tremendous loss,” said Toni Bixenmann, one of the organizers of the Dunk Tank Battle. “Richard tragically passed away on Jan. 7, leaving behind a wife and four young children. He was the sole provider for his family as well as an incredible asset to our community.

“Our local schools are joining together in this time of need to raise money for this wonderful family by sacrificing their principals to a dunk tank challenge.

“During the week ... donations for the Pagett family can be turned in to the student’s teacher or office of participating schools. The school that raisers the most money will have an opportunity to dunk their principal.”

Organizers noted that the River Fund, Inc., has pledged to match up to $1,000 raised from the event.

For more information, contact any of the participating schools.
