Teen arrested for DWI
STANTON — Just after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle accident that sent the 14-year-old driver to the hospital for treatment.
An SUV driven by the teenager was reportedly traveling north at a high rate of speed on 560th Avenue, one mile east of Woodland Park when he lost control of the SUV and it entered the west ditch, said Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger.
The SUV went through a fence into a field striking several trees. The male was taken by Hoskins/Woodland Park Rescue to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
He was also cited on charges of driving while intoxicated, minor in possession/consumption of alcohol and misuse of a school permit.
It was unclear if seatbelts were in use at the time.
