URI debuts new, expanded shuttle service schedule
SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) — The University of Rhode Island has started its expanded shuttle service.
WPRI-TV reports the new Rhody Transportation schedule services the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center in Providence and the College of Engineering in West Kingston. Riders can track shuttles on phones or laptops using the Transloc Rider app. Shuttles don’t operate on weekends, holidays or school breaks.
URI Vice President for Business and Finance Abigail Rider says the air-conditioned shuttles are refreshing on days when the humidity and temperatures spike.
The university has also introduced a new parking permit system this semester. Under the program, drivers’ license plates give them access to campus lots instead of stickers.
