Meth dealer busted at MC hotel
MICHIGAN CITY – Three people, including a woman and her daughter, were arrested after La Porte County Drug Task Force members searched a room at a south side hotel and found a large quantity of narcotics Monday morning.
Boyd D. Hartley III, 35, of New Carlisle, was charged with dealing in methamphetamine after officers searched a room at the Baymont Inn in the 4100 block Franklin St., according to police.
The Drug Task Force received an anonymous tip that Hartley was selling narcotics from a room at the Baymont Inn, and a warrant was obtained to search the room, according to Sgt. Andy Hynek of the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department, who was lead investigator on the case. He said they had been staying there for a few days.
The room was searched about 11:30 a.m. Monday and “a large quantity of methamphetamine was recovered, along with heroin, drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of U.S. currency that was ultimately seized,” Hynek said.
Hartley, arrested and charged with the felony drug count, remains in the La Porte County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond, Hynek said. He is scheduled to appear Tuesday, Nov. 27, in La Porte Superior Court 1.
Two women who were occupants of the hotel room were also charged, Hynek said.
Sarah C. Williams, 44, was charged with felony possession of heroin, and was also found to have an outstanding warrant through La Porte County for felony theft. Police said she was a Michigan City resident, but court records say she lives in New Buffalo, Michigan.
Her daughter, 24-year-old Savanna Azreal Williams of Michigan City was charged with felony possession of heroin and felony possession of a syringe, police said. She was also found to have an outstanding warrant for felony theft.
Savanna Williams remains in the jail on a $505 bond. Her next scheduled hearing is Dec. 18 in Superior Court 4 on the theft charge. She is listed on court documents as Savanah Williams.
Court information on Sarah Williams was not immediately available. She was no longer being held at the La Porte County Jail.
