Pets can be adopted for free at the Aiken County Animal Shelter this week

November 14, 2018

The Aiken County Animal Shelter, having doubled up on intake for dogs in need of adoptions, is offering special rates to get pets into loving homes.

The shelter will waive all adoption fees on select pets during its Black Friday Comes Early event, which will take place this Saturday, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“The shelter is at full capacity and in near crisis mode, so there are lots of pups and kitties to choose from,” according to a Friends of the Animal Shelter news release. “All are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped.”

Free doughnuts and cider will be provided at the shelter. Adoptions are subject to approval, according to the press release.

The shelter is also honoring veterans this week. Active duty servicemen/women and veterans may adopt a pet from the shelter for no charge from now until Saturday, Nov. 17.

A valid military service member ID or veteran’s ID is required.

The shelter offers five free veterans and active duty military adoptions each month.

The Aiken County Animal Shelter is located at 333 Wire Road.
