Huntington St. Joe tops Russell in boys soccer

HUNTINGTON — Zeb Pinson scored two goals to lead Huntington St. Joe to a 3-2 triumph over Russell Tuesday night in boys high school soccer at the YMCA Kennedy Center.

Austin Wiles gave the Irish (2-1) a 1-0 lead with a goal off an assist by Crosby Short in the 28th minute. Russell tied it three minutes later on a shot by Nolan Sabotchick. Pinson then scored unassisted at the 36-minute mark and just before the halftime horn off a pass from Nick Bias to give Huntington St. Joe a 3-1 lead at intermission.

Sabotchick scored in the 44th minute to set the score.

Deuce Vance made four saves to pick up the victory in goal.

The Irish return to action at 6 p.m. Thursday at home vs. Winfield. Russell (3-3-1) is at home Tuesday against Greenup County.
