Relatives grieving brothers in murder-suicide case

January 3, 2019

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (AP) — Relatives are grieving the loss of two brothers who died in a murder-suicide during a New Year’s Day gathering in Ramsey County.

Family members say 54-year-old Larry Klimek was fatally shot by his 56-year-old brother, Lee Klimek, at a home in White Bear Township on Tuesday. The older brother lived with their mother at the home where about 20 people had gathered to celebrate the new year.

Authorities have not said what might have motivated the shooting. Larry Klimek’s ex-wife, Sonya Zuker, tells the Star Tribune their children, a 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, were nearby when their father was shot.

Metro Transit says Larry Klimek was a train and bus operator and a beloved member of the agency’s mentorship program.
