Gunman, girl dead in Virginia shooting, boy hospitalized
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — Virginia police say a Maryland man shot two teenagers in suburban Washington, D.C., one fatally, before killing himself.
Alexandria Police began searching for a suspect after responding to the shooting at All Veterans Park about 8:45 p.m. Sunday.
But authorities say their investigation determined that 19-year-old Yerson Nunez Lopez, who was found dead at the scene, was the shooter.
Police have not released the name of a 17-year-old Alexandria girl who was also pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old boy, also from Alexandria, was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say Lopez knew the victims.
The shooting marks the sixth homicide in Alexandria this year.
