“SANFORD AND SON” ACTOR DIES
UNDATED (AP) — On the old TV sitcom “Sanford and Son,” Nathaniel Taylor played Rollo, the friend Fred Sanford felt would lead his son, Lamont, to ruin. Taylor has died. His son says his dad died last week in Los Angeles after a heart attack. He was 80. Though his character did time — and despite Fred Sanford’s suspicions — Rollo managed to keep his nose clean after his release. Taylor’s son says his dad was always proud to be associated with “Sanford and Son” — and would appreciate it when people said they remembered him from the popular sitcom.

IAN McKELLEN SORRY FOR REMARKS CONCERNING SPACEY, SINGER
LONDON (AP) — Ian McKellen is walking back comments he made about the sexual abuse allegations against Kevin Spacey and Bryan Singer. McKellen has drawn flak for suggesting in a live podcast that the allegations stem from both men being closeted. McKellen now says he’s sorry that what he was trying to say was “clumsily expressed.” The actor says what’s worse is that his comments may appear to, as he put it, “trivialize or condone abuse of any kind.” For the record, both Spacey and Singer have denied the allegations against them.
KEVIN SPACEY - HEARING
NANTUCKET, Mass. (AP) — Usually if an actor must wait by a phone, it’s for a possible role or maybe an awards nomination. But that’s not the deal today for Kevin Spacey. A judge in Massachusetts has ordered him to be available by phone if needed at a pretrial hearing. The former “House of Cards” star is charged with groping an 18-year-old at a Nantucket bar in 2016. He has pleaded not guilty. The actor’s lawyers have dismissed the claims as “patently false.”

RYAN ADAMS TOUR CANCELED AMID ALLEGATIONS
NEW YORK (AP) — Singer Ryan Adams’ upcoming tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland is canceled following reports of psychological abuse and sexual misconduct. The cancellation comes after The New York Times recently reported the misconduct allegations against Adams made by multiple women, including his ex-wife Mandy Moore. Seven women have claimed Adams offered to help them with their music careers but then turned things sexual, sometimes becoming verbally abusive. Adams has denied the accusations. The 44-year-old musician’s tour was scheduled to begin March 30.
JOHNNY DEPP FILES LAWSUIT AGAINST EX-WIFE AMBER HEARD
FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Their marriage has already ended in divorce. And now, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are wedded in a lawsuit. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star has filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex. At issue is a piece Heard wrote for The Washington Post. It mentions being a victim of domestic abuse. Depp says while the article doesn’t mention him by name, it’s clear he’s the target of the accusations — and denies them. Depp says the domestic violence claims have cost him work, including not being asked back to do more “Pirates” movies.
KHLOE KARDASHIAN - JORDYN WOODS
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Talk about a Twitter turnaround. In the space of a weekend, Khloe Kardashian has pivoted from blaming her breakup with Tristan Thompson on “the other woman” — to putting the onus on her man. On Friday, Kardashian ripped Jordyn Woods as a home-wrecker after rumors that Woods had been kicking it with Thompson, who plays for the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers. Woods denies it — and says the most that happened was a kiss on the lips — which he initiated — and which surprised her. She says she spent the night at Thompson’s place after a bunch of people were out partying. Kardashian began the weekend by calling Woods a liar — but has since directed her ire at Thompson.
JERRY LEE LEWIS RECOVERING FROM STROKE
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Jerry Lee Lewis is expected to make a full recovery after a mild stroke. A rep for the 83-year-old performer says Lewis suffered the stroke Thursday — and is recuperating in Memphis. He’s to perform at the 50th anniversary of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival next month. His publicist says no scheduled shows have been affected.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tyler Perry’s large army of female moviegoers turned out to be no match for a bunch of fire-breathing dragons — at least at the box office. “How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” held the top spot on the box office list, despite a charge by “A Madea Family Funeral.” ″Dragon” took in an estimated $30 million, while “Madea” pulled in $27 million. Both franchises have said they are calling it quits after this installment.

OSCAR - “GREEN BOOK”
LOS ANGELES (AP) — “Green Book” is showing a little Oscar bounce. After winning the academy award for best picture a week ago Sunday, the movie made a strong showing at the box office. It took in another $4.7 million over the weekend, good for fifth place. Overall, the movie has taken in $31.9 million internationally.
STEVEN SPIELBERG VS. NETFLIX
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A battle is brewing in Hollywood over whether movies distributed by streaming services should be eligible for Oscars. One of those pressing for a rules change is Steven Spielberg. He feels movies on sites like Netflix shouldn’t get Oscar consideration because they don’t operate under the same rules studios do. Other Hollywood insiders note Netflix has been an important supporter of minority filmmakers and stories, especially in awards campaigns. The issue is sure to continue churning, since Netflix got its first best picture nod for “Roma” this year — and is shooting for another next year with “The Irishman,” which is due out later this year.
“RHOA” STAR’S EX-HUSBAND ARRESTED
MIAMI (AP) — There’s some real-life drama surrounding a cast member of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” The ex-husband of Cynthia Bailey had to spend a night in a Miami jail after being busted on fraud charges. Peter Thomas was arrested Friday at Miami International Airport on a fugitive warrant. The warrant’s from Louisiana, where Thomas is accused of writing bad checks. No bond has been set. In a statement, Thomas says the allegations are false — and that he will be “acquitted of any wrongdoing.”

BING CROSBY’S FORMER RANCH FOR SALE
ELKO, Nev. (AP) — A northeastern Nevada ranch once owned by Bing Crosby is for sale for $7,280,000. The Elko Daily Free Press reported last week that the Lawson Ranch was one of several properties the late singer and movie star owned in the area in the 1940s and 1950s. Crosby was a frequent summer visitor to the ranch and was named the honorary mayor of the small city of Elko in 1948. Northeastern Nevada Museum archivist Toni Mendive says he liked to bring his boys to the ranch to experience life away from Hollywood. Listing agent Todd Renfrew of Outdoor Properties of Nevada says the Lawson Ranch sits on nearly 3,000 acres. He says the ranch’s 1860s homestead house is still on the property.
