Baxter Names Gantz President, Promotes Several Others
DEERFIELD, Ill. (AP) _ Wilbur Gantz is the new president of Baxter Travenol Laboratories Inc. and two executives have won promotions, the company said.
Gantz, 49, joined Baxter in 1966 and was named chief operating officer in 1983.
The position of president was held previously by Vernon R. Loucks Jr., who who remains with Baxter as chairman of the board and chief executive officer.
In other moves, C.A. Piccolo and Robert J. Simmons were promoted to executive vice president positions.
Piccolo, 47, joined Baxter in 1968 and had been a vice president since 1981. He will be charged with responsibility for the company’s hospital and alternate-site health care businesses.
Simmons, 44, worked previously for American Hospital Supply Corp., based in nearby Evanston, and joined Baxter when the two companies merged in 1985. He will be charged with Baxter’s corporate marketing and distribution activities.
