Mass. pair charged with drug trafficking in Maine
BENTON, Maine (AP) — Maine state police say heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana and more than $1,000 in cash was seized during a drug arrest on Interstate 95 in Benton.
Police say 28-year-old Jennifer Rubins of Mashpee, Mass., and 40-year-old Donnell Pina from Marstons Mills, Mass., face aggravated drug trafficking charges.
Steve McCausland of the Maine Public Safety Department says the two were pulled over in a rental car for a traffic violation on Friday. The trooper requested a drug-sniffing dog, which indicated the presence of drugs. Police say the street value of the seized drugs was more than $11,000.
The Kennebec County Jail says Pina was freed on $10,000 cash bail. Rubins was due in court Monday afternoon. It was unclear if they had attorneys.
