Maranatha women topple Mount Mary for ninth straight win

MILWAUKEE — Freshman guard Callie Morrison scored 16 points and Rosa Torres totaled 14 as the visiting Maranatha Baptist University women’s basketball team had all five starters in double-figures scoring in a 72-48 win over Mount Mary University for the squad’s ninth victory in a row.

Jacklyn Simpson tallied 13 points and Kelsey Johnson had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Morrison also had eight rebounds, eight assists and five steals for the Sabercats (14-6).

Erica Williams led all scorers with 19 points for Mount Mary (10-10).

Maranatha made nine 3-pointers and shot 42 percent from the field.

The Sabercats will host Mount Mary on Tuesdayat 7 p.m.
