Japanese Prime Minister To Visit Korea
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) _ Japanese Prime Minister Toshiki Kaifu will visit in January to discuss prospects for Korean unification and other issues with President Roh Tae-woo, South Korean officials said.
Presidential spokesman Lee Soo-jung said the two men will hold talks Jan. 9-10 on cooperation between their nations and ways of promoting Korean unification through inter-Korean exchanges and reduced tension.
Roh and Kaifu also will exchange views on changes in U.S.-Soviet relations, developments in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, and efforts for peace and cooperation in Asia and the Pacific, Lee said.
He said Kaifu’s visit will also touch on improving the legal status of Koreans living in Japan.
