SEOUL, South Korea (AP) _ Japanese Prime Minister Toshiki Kaifu will visit in January to discuss prospects for Korean unification and other issues with President Roh Tae-woo, South Korean officials said.

Presidential spokesman Lee Soo-jung said the two men will hold talks Jan. 9-10 on cooperation between their nations and ways of promoting Korean unification through inter-Korean exchanges and reduced tension.

Roh and Kaifu also will exchange views on changes in U.S.-Soviet relations, developments in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, and efforts for peace and cooperation in Asia and the Pacific, Lee said.
