NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) — Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan will host a suicide prevention program aimed at teaching school employees how to more readily identify potentially suicidal adolescents and how to get them help.

Barry Feldman, a psychologist at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Anne Gilligan, Safe and Healthy Schools director for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, will present “Lifelines.” The four-part program is a whole-school approach to suicide prevention that involves students, school personnel and parents.

A free orientation for teachers, administrators, clinicians, coaches, behavior and health staff will be held Wednesday at the Smith College Conference Center. Three training sessions will follow on dates in October, November and December.
