HS FOOTBALL: Lake-Lehman Routs Carbondale Area
CARBONDALE — Lake-Lehman was able to move the ball both on the ground and through the air in a 40-0 triumph over Carbondale Area in a nonconference high school football game on Friday night.
Casey Kaminski helped set up the first Black Knight score with a 60-yard punt return late in the first quarter. Running back Scott Robbins put Lake-Lehman on the board with an 8-yard run with 1:29 left in the quarter and a 7-0 lead.
Then, Kaminski helped his team by scoring the next two touchdowns. Lake-Lehman scored on its next two possessions when quarterback Ethan Adams hit Kaminski for touchdowns passes of 27 and 63 yards and a 21-0 lead.
Lake-Lehman scored on all four of its possessions in the second quarter, leading to a comfortable 34-0 lead at halftime.
“Other than the penalties (Lake-Lehman had 13), I was pleased with the execution tonight”, Lake-Lehman coach Gerry Gilsky said. “If we clean up the penalties, we’ll be fine. We can run the ball, we can throw it, we are two-dimensional now, so it will be hard for defenses to key on any one player.”
Running back Ryan Eiden led the Black Knights in rushing with 67 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown run. He also had two receptions for 43 yards. Fullback Matt Kurtz scored the final touchdown of the second quarter on a tough, 5-yard run with 37 seconds left in the half. Zack Kojadinovich chipped in with 63 rushing yards.
Adams threw for 173 yards and three touchdowns on six pass completions.
The Lake-Lehman defense held Carbondale Area (0-4) to just 68 rushing yards.
