Carolina Panthers Sign Willig
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) _ The Carolina Panthers signed 12-year veteran offensive tackle Matt Willig to a one-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
To make room on the roster, the Panthers placed offensive tackle Melvin Tuten on injured reserve.
The Panthers began searching for a free agent tackle after Tuten, who started six games last season at right tackle, tore ligaments in his left knee Wednesday. Willig is expected to backup rookie Jordan Gross, the team’s first-round draft choice, at right tackle.
