Loose-leaf and yard waste collection ends Nov. 30 in DeKalb
DeKALB – The city’s curbside yard waste and loose-leaf collection programs will end Nov. 30, according to a news release from the city.
The Morton Grove-based company the city uses will close out its 2018 citywide yard waste collection period at the end of this month, and will not resume until April 2019.
Residents also have until Nov. 30 to have their loose leaves be picked up. Curbside collection requires residents to rake their leaves onto the parkway – behind the curb – the weekend before their scheduled pickup. Residents should not rake the leaves onto the street, as those can block the storm sewers.
Loose-leaf pickup crews will work south to north in the city.
DeKalb Public Works is also reminding residents that city offices will be closed Nov. 22 and Nov. 23 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Leaf collections will resume Monday, Nov. 26, pending weather.
Garbage collections will also be delayed one day due to the holiday. Thursday and Friday garbage collections will occur Friday and Saturday.
