Habitat for Humanity to donate 107th home

August 26, 2018

HUNTINGTON - Huntington WV Area Habitat for Humanity will host its 107th dedication celebration at a home for a local veteran on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

The celebration will begin at 5:15 p.m.

The future home of veteran Barry Holland, at 941 14th St., is part of Habitat’s Veterans Housing Initiative. The Veterans Housing Initiative is a program of Huntington WV Area Habitat for Humanity, and was created to assist formerly homeless veterans in becoming homeowners. This program is the only of its kind in West Virginia, and has served as a model for other Habitat affiliates across the country.

The Holland home was built in partnership with the West Virginia Affordable Housing Trust Fund and 84 Lumber. Facing Hunger Foodbank and Woodmen Life also assisted with donations of food and an American flag to the new homeowner.
