DALLAS (AP) _ Felix Potvin stopped 26 shots for his fifth shutout, and Sergei Berezin got the game's only goal as the Toronto Maple Leafs ended a five-game winless streak with a 1-0 victory Thursday night over the Dallas Stars.

Berezin's 15th goal, with 16:18 remaining wasn't a thing of beauty, but it was enough to stop an 0-4-1 slump by the Maple Leafs.

Defenseman Rob Zettler's shot from the blue line glanced off the glove of Dallas goalie Roman Turek, hit the end boards, flipped into the air and landed in front of the net. Berezin was set up in front to knock it past Turek.

The Maple Leafs had lost their last five games in Dallas.

Turek, who made 14 saves, saw his six-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1) halted while the Stars watched their unbeaten string of five games (4-0-1) come to an end.

Dallas hasn't scored in the last two games, and are without a goal over a stretch of 131 minutes and 33 seconds.

Potvin kept the Maple Leafs upright after Dallas dominated the first period with a 14-2 advantage in shots.

Toronto managed more offense in the second period, but the Stars still outshot the Maple Leafs 9-7.

The Stars were playing their first game with forwards Brian Skrudland and Mike Keane, both acquired in a trade with the New York Rangers earlier this week.

Returning to the Dallas lineup after missing time with injuries were defenseman Sergei Zubov and left wing Dave Reid.
