Bryce Harper meets with Giants: Report
Washington Nationals free agent star Bryce Harper is sticking to West Coast teams for now, reportedly meeting with the San Francisco Giants this week.
Multiple reports saidthe Giants are taking a late shot at the Harper sweepstakes. Harper met with the San Diego Padres last week in another surprise move.
To date, it’s clear that the teams interested in Harper are the Nationals, Phillies, White Sox, Padres and now the Giants. The Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly moved away from Harper when they used open cap space to sign outfielder A.J. Pollock.
Baseball free agency continues to inch along as Nationals pitchers and catchers report Feb. 13, just one week from Wednesday, with position players to follow shortly thereafter.
There’s no guarantee Harper, Manny Machado or the other big-name free agents available will find new homes by that time, but any report of a new team sniffing around Harper’s camp makes it seem like things are finally progressing.
