Scheduled Roadwork For Week Of 11/26/18

November 26, 2018

The state Department of Transportation announced the following upcoming roadwork projects in Luzerne County: • There will be traffic issues on state Route 11 (Wyoming Avenue) in West Pittston on Sunday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 6 p.m. for the annual parade and Christmas tree lighting. • State Route 502 is currently closed in Pittston Twp. just east of Aston Mountain Road. The closure is due to significant scouring that was discovered under the bridge in a recent inspection. A detour route will be set up and the road is expected to remain closed for a few weeks. • North Cross Valley Expressway project: The on ramp to the North Cross Valley Expressway at Exit 3 River Street in Plains Twp. is closed through summer 2019. A signed detour will be in place for the duration of the on ramp construction. The on-ramp bridge deck and parapets will be removed and replaced. The beams and girders will be inspected and painted. A signed detour will be in place for the duration of the on ramp construction. Short term traffic delays might be experienced. Also on the Cross Valley, work from exit 4 to exit 6 will be done at night. The project will be from Forty Fort to Luzerne. The 2018 work will be to improving shoulders and will be done at night. Deck and repair work will begin in the spring of 2019. • South Valley Parkway project: The Prospect Street roundabout is being re-engineered due to unforeseen conditions and may take a month to do so. The Department did not want to inconvenience the public, so the area was opened up. Once the re-engineering is completed, construction of Prospect Street will resume. The Prospect Roundabout will be opened during winter months, and closed again in late spring 2019 for completion. This is required due to weather restrictions for bituminous paving of the roundabout. The Prospect Street roundabout is projected to take 106 working days once it resumes in the spring. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in 2020. All work depends on weather conditions. — STAFF REPORT
