Man dies hours after leaving Northwest Side accident before EMS arrived
A man who left the scene of a Northwest Side accident before EMS arrived died hours later from his injuries, police said.
Manuel Delgado III, 44, was pronounced dead at 10:42 p.m. Thursday, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Delgado had been the passenger of a BMW 525 about 6:30 p.m. heading west in the 1400 block of Gardina, according to preliminary information from the San Antonio Police Department.
The driver of the BMW lost control on a curve in the roadway and struck a utility pole, investigators said.
Police said Delgado had left the scene just as EMS was arriving and before an officer got to the scene.
A short time later, Delgado went to Methodist Hospital, investigators said. His injuries were determined to be much more severe, and he was transferred to University Hospital, the report states.
Delgado was pronounced dead there at 10:42 p.m., according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
No criminal charges are pending, according to the report.
