GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina prosecutors say a man has been convicted of sexually assaulting children and exposing them to HIV.

The Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor's Office tells news outlets in a statement that 57-year-old William Lee Carpenter Jr. was found guilty Thursday on several charges including criminal sexual conduct with a minor and exposing another to HIV.

Solicitor Walt Wilkins and court documents say Carpenter was sentenced to 30 years in prison and must serve more than 25 years before becoming eligible for parole.

Assistant Solicitors Christy Kednocker Sustakovitch and Candace Clark said during Carpenter's trial that he assaulted a boy and a girl who were between the ages of 7 and 10 at his home in Travelers Rest from 2014 to 2016.

It's unclear if Carpenter has a lawyer who could comment.
