Wizards Top Mexico Club in Tourney

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Carrey Talley and Chris Brown scored as the Kansas City Wizards advanced to the semifinal round of the international FC Champions Cup tournament Wednesday night with a 2-0 victory over Mexico’s Santos Laguna.
Talley, who joined the team in a preseason trade with D.C. United, scored his first goal as a Wizard in the 33rd minute off a corner kick by Roy Lassiter.
Brown scored his goal in the 71st minute off a corner kick from Preki.
Kansas City goalkeeper Tony Meola, who has been selected to the U.S. World Cup team this summer, made four saves in the first 45 minutes.
The Wizards won the series 3-2 on aggregate goals. Kansas City will now play a home-and-away series against the winner of the Monarcas Morelia of Mexico and the Chicago Fire quarterfinal.
