Biden Secretly Visits Scranton Today
SCRANTON — With his announcement of another presidential bid drawing closer, former Vice President Joseph Biden secretly visited Scranton today. Biden stopped at his family’s former home on North Washington Avenue and headed for St. Paul’s School and the Green Ridge Little League field. He was seen walking in front of a man with a video camera on one Green Ridge street. On Twitter, one man posted a photo of Biden talking to people in a city neighborhood. Biden’s visit comes almost three weeks after a Democratic campaign commercial producer, Mark Putnam, who works for Biden, visited the city’s Green Ridge neighborhood. Putnam also visited Biden’s family’s former homestead to get a feel for where Biden spent his early childhood years, resident Tom Bell, Biden’s childhood friend, said at the time. Today, Bell said he was unaware of Biden’s visit. Biden, 76, spent the first 10 years of his life in Scranton before his family moved to Delaware where he grew up and became one of the state’s longest-serving U.S. senators. Check back for updates.
