KKB hosts recycle day

Keep Katy Beautiful hosted its America Recycle’s Day event on Nov. 3 at Katy’s First Baptist Church, 600 Pin Oak Road in Katy.

The group and its volunteers collected electronics to be recycled and paper for shredding between 9 a.m. and noon.

Jess T. Washburn, city of Katy tourism and marketing assistant and affiliate coordinator for Keep Katy Beautiful, shared these numbers from the event.

Items recycled/shredded include: Paper - 4,460 pounds; batteries - 87 pounds; electronics - 7,131 pounds; toner - 26 cartridges and eyeglasses - 2 dozen.

Items collected and then donated: 10 blankets donated to Katy Christian Ministries (KCM), 55 coats donated to KCM and 527 books donated to the Katy Branch Library.
