LOCAL COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Wilkes Men Move To 2-0
Wilkes’ Rob Pecorelli and Marcus Robinson combined for 51 points as the Colonels scored an 88-68 win over Bethany in the first round of the Rinso Marquette Tournament hosted by Lebanon Valley.
The win makes Wilkes 2-0 on the season.
Wilkes opened the second half with a 16-0 run to break open what was a close game.
Pecorelli finished with 29 points and added six rebounds, three assists and four steals. Robinson had 22 points.
Penn State Abington 85, Misericordia 77
At Poughkeepsie, N.Y., the Cougars fell in the opening round of the Vassar Tip-off Tournament.
Tony Harding led Misericordia with 15 points. Jake Bartholomew had 14 points.
Men’s Ice Hockey
At the Revolution Ice Center, Wilkes earned the program’s first ever shutout victory, beating King’s 3-0.
Phil Erickson scored the game’s first goal just under six minutes into the contest.
Scott Aaron added a goal in the second period, while Nick Fea scored his fifth of the season in the third period.
Brandon Gordon made 15 saves in goal for the shutout.
