Wife badly hurt in violent fight

A Kosciusko County woman was in serious condition at a Fort Wayne hospital after a fight with her husband turned violent, the county sheriff’s department said Tuesday.

About 6:15 p.m. Monday, deputies were called to 3932 W. Old Road 30 in Warsaw on a call about a man attacking his wife with an ax, the sheriff’s department said.

The wife, Sandy Waithira, 33 of Warsaw, was seriously injured in the fight and was flown to Lutheran Hospital, the sheriff’s department said.

Joseph Waithira, 37, also of Warsaw, was treated for minor injuries, police said, then booked into the county jail on a preliminary charge of battery causing serious bodily injury.

Man accused of sex with girl, 13

A Fort Wayne man is charged with two counts of child molesting.

Yee Naung, 29, of the 3700 block of Wayne Trace, is accused of having sex twice with a 13-year-old girl between June 1 and Dec. 24, 2017.

Naung was charged Aug. 22 and was released from the Allen County Jail on $35,000 bond. His next court hearing is Oct. 24.

Man charged with molesting girl

A Fort Wayne man is charged with child molesting and dissemination of matter harmful to minors.

Randall Bernardin, 39, is accused of inappropriately touching a girl in June. He asked her if she felt uncomfortable and to take off her clothes.

All the while, the victim was texting two friends telling them what was going on, court records said. One of her friends receiving the texts told her she needed to tell her mother : no matter how awkward it might be : what happened, and she did, court documents said.

Bernardin, 39, was charged Thursday. He is being held at the Allen County Jail in lieu of $12,500 bail.
