Tucson police investigate death of pedestrian struck by car
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Police in Tucson are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was fatally run over by a car.
The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Ivan Rodriguez.
Officers were flagged down near Golf Links and Wilmot around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
They located an unresponsive man in the roadway and he was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Investigators say it appears the pedestrian wasn’t in a crosswalk when he was struck.
Police say the man tried to cross the road and ran in front of the vehicle.
The driver was unable to stop in time.
Police say the driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The say speed doesn’t appear to be a factor in the collision and the driver showed no signs of impairment.
