NH woman saved herself by jumping from 3rd floor apartment
HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire woman who saved herself by jumping from a burning, third-floor apartment said she didn’t have time to contemplate. She said the fire was moving fast and that it was “do or die.”
Jill St. Cyr tells the Portsmouth Herald that she climbed through the window of her third-floor apartment onto a deck and jumped at least eight feet onto the roof of an attached laundromat.
She suffered a sprained ankle but survived the fire.
The fire marshal’s office is investigating the blaze Thursday night in Hampton that displaced five people. The building is expected to be razed in the coming week.
