Board president says Chicago schools under investigation

April 15, 2015

CHICAGO (AP) — Officials with the nation’s third-largest school district say federal authorities are “investigating a matter” at Chicago Public Schools.

In a statement released Wednesday, Chicago Board of Education president David Vitale says federal authorities requested interviews with several employees. He says the board was made aware of the investigation on Tuesday and is cooperating fully.

He did not offer details on the investigation. A spokesman for Chicago Public Schools didn’t return a request for comment Wednesday.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel told reporters Wednesday that he didn’t have further details. He says there isn’t information yet on who’s the target of the probe.
