‘Magnum, P.I.’ Film Editor Shot to Death
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Kurt Hirschler, film editor for the CBS-TV series ″Magnum, P.I.,″ was shot to death outside a restaurant, police said.
Hirschler, 54, was shot once in the chest last week while sitting in a car in North Hollywood, said Lt. Ron LaRue. The film editor, who had been working for the show for the past two seasons, was taken to the Medical Center of North Hollywood, where he died late Wednesday.
His identity was not disclosed until Friday to allow officials time to contact his relatives.
LaRue said Hirschler had just left the restaurant with a woman companion, and the two were talking in her car when a man opened the door on the passenger side, where Hirschler was sitting. When the film editor tried to shut the door, the man shot him, LaRue said.
No arrests had been made, he said.
