Pere Marquette approves higher water, sewer rates
PERE MARQUETTE TWP. — The 2019 sewer and water rates will rise by 2.8 percent in Pere Marquette Charter Township.
The Pere Marquette Charter Township Board of Trustees approved the rate increases during its meeting 4 p.m. Thursday at the township hall.
The sewer rate will increase by 13 cents, rising from $4.59 to $4.72 per 100 cubic feet of water used per calendar quarter, in addition to the readiness to serve charge, which is unchanged from the 2018 rate.
This is a 2.8-percent increase due to the rising cost of living, Township Treasurer Jacalyn Sroka told the board.
“That would be an increase of about $2.21 per quarter for a family of five,” she added.
