Former Pennsylvania Congressman Jon Fox dies at 70

February 12, 2018

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A former two-term Pennsylvania congressman who also served in local and state offices for more than two decades has died. Jon Fox was 70.

His brother-in-law, Paul Fires, says Fox died Sunday night at his Abington Township home from brain cancer.

Elected commissioner in the township near Philadelphia in 1980, the Republican won a state House seat in 1984 and served until 1992. Fox then served in Congress from 1995 to 1999.

When Fox was leaving office, former Pennsylvania state secretary Alma R. Jacobs told The Associated Press that “I don’t think there’s anything in the community that Jon Fox wouldn’t show up at if he was in town.”

Fires says a memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Congregation Adath Jeshurun in Elkins Park.
