CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) _ Garner Byars rushed for 139 yards, including a 65-yard fourth-quarter touchdown run, as Murray State beat Southeast Missouri 38-28 on Saturday.

Murray State (4-4, 2-2 Ohio Valley Conference) took advantage of six interceptions thrown by Southeast Missouri (2-5, 0-4 OVC), a school record.

Murray State's Stewart Childress completed 24-of-38 passes for 270 yards, including a 64-yard pass to Michael Slater. Slater caught nine passes for 129 yards.

Southeast Missouri quarterback Rashad West rushed for three touchdowns and combined with Bobby Brune to throw for 244 yards. But West's four intercepted passes and Brune's two were too much for the Indians to overcome.

Defensive end Anthony Johnson took advantage of one of those miscues to give Murray State the early lead on a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown.
