Infant son of Giants safety Tito Wooten dies
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ The 6-month-old son of New York Giants safety Tito Wooten has died, team officials said Wednesday.
T.J. Wooten was born prematurely and had medical problems, Giants spokesman Aaron Salkin said. The infant died Tuesday in a hospital in Arkansas following a seizure, he added.
Giants coach Dan Reeves said Wooten was in Arkansas with the child and his former wife on Tuesday, but he had no other details about the infant’s death.
Wooten returned to New Jersey and practiced with the team on Wednesday.
``I was surprised he was here,″ Reeves said. ``I hadn’t talked to him and I just assumed he wouldn’t be here.″
Reeves said he spoke with Wooten briefly at lunch.
``I told him I was really sorry to hear about it,″ Reeves said. ``I told him we would be thinking about him and praying for him and his family.″
