St. B’s Cruises to Win Over Sizer
The St. Bernard’s boys’ lacrosse team picked up a shutout Wednesday afternoon, besting Sizer 16-0 in Fitchburg.
Mike Provencher and Mick Ginnity each had 3 goals and 5 assists for the Bernardians (2-0), while Jaxson Poirier potted a pair of markers.
Ben Jacoby turned aside 3 shots to earn the shutout.
Sizer fell to 0-3 on the season.
Dylan Sousa had 3 hits and Danny Garcia added a pair as the Blue Devils took the opener for both teams.
Sophomore Evan McCarthy threw 6 scoreless innings, striking out 5 and allowing 4 hits, while Pat Gallagher pitched in the final inning to earn the save.

Aleysha Santos belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh as the host Red Raiders (1-0) walked off with a win.

Leilani Amarasinghe and Eliza Howlett each had 3 goals for the Blue Devils (2-0).
Luke Halbrooks cleared an impressive 6′2″ to win the high jump for the Chieftains (2-0).
Cat Fox won the 100-meter dash and pole vault for the Chieftains (2-0).
Wonoula Ashaju (triple jump), Olamide Bamgbose (long jump) and Emerson Scott (400m hurdles) earned wins for Fitchburg.
North Middlesex 5
North Middlesex’s Caleb Amidon topped Caleb Robinson, 6-0 6-0; Evan Gaibor bested Sam Boudreau, 6-4, 6-4; and Jacob Richard defeated Matt Kroch, 6- 0, 6-0 as the Patriots (1-0) swept the singles matches.
Jackson Anselmi and Josh Gruber won in doubles action, defeating Fitchburg’s Kato Bouthsarath and Pablo Araujo, 6-4, 6-2, while Matt Burns and Rowan Archibald beat Garrett Paradis and Juan Rodriguez, 6-4, 6-0.
Fitchburg falls to 0-2.
