Havasu man arrested after altercation
A Lake Havasu City man was arrested at gunpoint Saturday night after he allegedly attempted to punch another man during an argument in the Walmart parking lot.
Lake Havasu City Police say Matthew Irish, 42, got into an argument with another man Saturday, during which he reportedly grabbed the victim and attempted to punch him in the face. The victim called dispatchers to report he was threatened by Irish, saying he threatened to kill him and chased him with a knife. During the all, dispatchers could overhear another man arguing with the caller, saying “you threatened to cut my head off, I never said I had a knife.” When officers arrived, they arrested Irish at gunpoint because of concerns about a knife. It wasn’t clear from police reports whether a knife was found. Irish, who is homeless, was booked into Lake Havasu City jail on misdemeanor charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
