Milford sailor was part of honor guard at Bush’s funeral
Allon C. Louisgene, a U.S. Navy sailor from Milford, Conn., was part of the military honor guard that carried the flag-draped casket of former President George H.W. Bush out after the State Funeral at the National Cathedral, on Wednesday in Washington, according to a WTNH report.
Allon C. Louisgene joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from Platt Technical High School in 2017.
While at boot camp in Chicago, WTNH reported, a supervisor suggested that Louisgene apply for the casket program. He was then accepted into the program and stationed in Washington D.C.
“We are all very proud of him. He is the first in our family to go into the military, ” his mother, Marie, told the station.
“He said he was actually stepping into history,” Wednesday, his mom said.
